LOCAL 1813 HISTORY WITH THE MDA

It is tough to find when the IAFF Local 1813 actually began raising money for the MDA. But among those who have been around for awhile, 2004 was the best year yet in the partnership. The local took some time off supporting the MDA in the last few years. Secretary Elborne attended the PPFFA Convention in 2004 and saw the MDA presentation and made the decision to pursue the matter. Contacts were made and things were organized and the members of the Local 1813 began filling the boot on August 7th, 2004. After five hours in the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Orchard Drive, the members called in at day. After returning to the station, the total surprised everyone involved. The members of Local 1813 raised $3600.00 for Jerry's Kids.Because of their hard work, the local was asked by the local MDA representatives to present a check at this year's Jerry Lewis' Telethon. Treasurer Jim Picking and Secretary Ryan Elborne attended this event at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Harrisburg, Pa.

The members of IAFF Local 1813 and Local F-170 (Letterkenny) would like to take this opportunity to thank

everyone from the public who gave to help support such a worthy cause. The members from both local unions

worked hard on Saturday August 20th at the intersections of Wayne Ave. and Orchard Dr. and on the square.

The members of IAFF Local 1813 would like to thank all of the people who helped make the "Fill the Boot" a big success. At total of $3600.00 was raised for Jerry's Kids.

CHECK PRESENTATION

SEPT 6th - Secretary Ryan Elborne and Treasurer Jim Picking attended the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon on Monday to present them with a $3600.00 check which members of the Local 1813 collected at a recent boot drive in Chambersburg.
